I lost the manual for my son's Thomas The Train Set - How do I put batteries in James?
My son has the Thomas the train set with the mechanical cars. He has the James that has 2 other cars attached to it. It is out of batteries and I can't find the manual. Where I thought the batteries would go, they don't. It's a mystery and it's driving me NUTS! Does anyone have the same toy and where in the world do the batteries go??? I think it takes AAAs, I believe James himself takes batteries, as well as the car behind it. There is no obvious spot to put the batteries! HELP!
Battery Installation or How to Horrify a Two Year Old
James is actually a two-car set, the red engine and his separate coal tender. Like all of the other trains in the wooden collection, the cars attach to each other by magnets. Unlike most trains, James is actually die-cast metal while the tender is wood.
To install the battery you need to use a small screwdriver to open the base and raise the chassis. My son found the whole "operation" extremely upsetting. First he did not want anyone to take away his new James to insert a battery and then to see his beloved train partially dissected was just too much for him. I highly suggest removing James from the package and installing the battery before giving him to your child.
