How concerned should I be about households 'dangers' (toys, plastics, etc)?
Well I think there is a plot to make me lose my mind. I can buy those expensive little wooden train cars thinking they are good because they are plastic, and it turns out are painted lead. Now, yesterday there was an article in our work saying about baby bottles and toys containing dangerous kind of plastic. How concerned should I be about these things and what steps you think I should take on your case, to protect my family. I have two small children at home. Thanks
Most of us survived our childhood in homes that were filled with lead and asbestos. So it is not unlikely. However, my family tries to minimize exposure to known and suspected risks. It is virtually impossible to prevent all bad things, so just trying to avoid or limit exposure is the best we can do. Most studies show that exposure risk is less limited. I would try to avoid anything outside of China, it is so difficult because we have much there. Have had problems with quality control many for me to take into account everything they produce the safest. Our government simply does not have the resources to evaluate all of them coming here so things are slipping through the cracks and do not find out until someone gets sick or injured. Not many chemicals harmful cleaning, personal care and beauty products. Our skin is our largest organ, absorbing 40-60% of what happens in it, so if not eaten, I put in my body. Inhale a lot of things when using cleaning products, so avoid anything with bleach and antibacterial products in it. I'll put a link to one of my favorite websites, Big Green Purse.
