It is a Model Train Transformer dangerous for children?
I just got a ready to run Train Set MTH. Comes with a transformer 100 watts. Comes in 4 parts: AC wall outlet ---> driver ---> Banana Plugs ---> Track Connector I'm not concerned with the wall adapter, as it merely the regulator's powers. My concern is with banana plugs that go to the track connector. What if my child off these and put in your mouth? Spill of water in the connector? What if you put your tongue on the track? (Actually they are small) Should I be concerned with an electric shock, or the output of Model Trains low to harm people? This is a set of size O. Is much larger than the HO and more suitable for children.
Or even the trains run gauge relatively low voltages, so it should not be a major concern about the serious injury. Even if you connect the banana as a whole, the transformer is probably protected against overload. However, if you want to make things child proof, wrap the connector on the runway and banana plugs with tape to prevent someone from accidentally playing with them. Also, never, let the trains run without supervision, to avoid things like one of them put his tongue on the track. Turn off the TV when not in use. Nothing is completely safe, but a little common sense goes a long way to prevent accidents.
