Hornby Trains? Any advice?

We have been given a Hornby Train Set that the owner believed to be about 40 years old. all heavy metals and is a brand "Princess Victoria", the other is red No. 9 steam engine. All parts were purchased together so if we can date a train we can date them all. I wondered how many years these trains can be really and if they have any value. (Not accepted, well played with) do not want my son party around them if they're worth anything and if it is worth nothing serious i would like to return to the previous owner, too, that are electric so We would like to know if they are safe to play with

It will be a bit vague I'm afraid. The model of "Princess Victoria" is a class 8P 4-6-2 express passenger engine in BR Black. Is the main production run though 1959-1962 was re-released in 1974. It's a little geek, but you can tell if yours is a 1974 version because the BR logo on the supply of coal will be different from the previous version. The 1974 reissue of this loco was the first version of the BR-Lion and Wheel "logo with a gold lion standing on a red train wheel. Locos of the main production run shows the later version of this sign with a red lion rampant on a crown holding a gold wheel train on it's front legs. The best I can find for you crazy other is that it is a much smaller 0-4-0 industrial locomotive with the name "Polly" proudly displayed on its sides, although the nameplate may have diminished over time or come adrift completely. She had been part of a trio of industrial engines including "Connie" and "Nelly". This model ranged from 1963 Hornby until 1970. Given that the dates do not overlap I'm not sure that these items were purchased together necessarily at the same time. The value depends on the rarity and state. So use items without boxes do not usually send great prices. "Princess Victoria" may have come from a train that would have originally included coaches and track, but on their own would be less valuable. I do not much hope of getting much more than about £ 5 for "Polly" and £ 15 for "Princess Victoria" through an auction site like eBay. It's like letting your child play with them. They are free to you so that you will not be out out of pocket if they go on the wall and are certainly better value than buying a brand new composition. The 12 volt system used for Hornby Railways is also perfectly insurance. I remember getting a bit of a pinch of the rails if I was foolish enough to rest your hand through them when he was in power and with a tingling then but not dangerous in any way.
