Review BrickTrainShop the 165 Charger Station "from 1978
Our past Flashback focused on one of the locomotives of LEGO most famous of the early 1980's 12V system. This time I take a look at a set of a period, even earlier, Charge Station 165. Launched in 1978, Charging Station was one of the first buildings available for LEGO trains at a time when trains run on tracks and bricks blue gray in color
very recent - and perhaps even controversy.
In total, four different buildings-themed trains were issued, beginning with a train station in 1975 and followed by a level crossing and fuel refinery in 1976. Refueling Station seems somewhat simplistic by modern standards, consisting mostly of brick base and only some details. By the standards of 1978, however, was a being capable - set - and even breaking ground. In the world of LEGO trains, this series occurred in the transition of the 1970 "Legoland" states that the classic game City of the 1980's. The charging station was the first building-related train to include modern minifigures as opposed to its predecessor, the "armless" figures. Loading Station also set the stage for what's ahead using a standard 32 x 32 board post.
FLASHBACK
The construction of the first train to use the now ubiquitous standard motherboard. The charging station was also significant in being the first in a series of cargo loading stations LEGO
trains. Each subsequent generation of LEGO trains appears a set of similar design. In 1986, 7,823 cargo containers of the crane was released for 12V rail, followed in 1995 by the charging of goods 4555. The set of the latter, in particular, seems to be a direct descendant of the loading station 165, an update of aesthetic norms of the joint system of the time. Both 7823 and 4555 included a freight car trucks and containers, which were omitted from the loading station 165. The 1990's saw the trend juniorization to the advantage of the LEGO system offers. Two other games in the charging station were released during this period: the goods loading station 4557 in 1999 and 4514 of the loading crane in 2003. These games were smaller in scale and included a truck, but no railway car. Returning to the Station Cargo 165, it should be noted that the crane in this series was designed to lift boxes, shipping containers no larger intermodal appear in later games. It is also interesting that the small boxes that are in the Charge Station for thirty years, not unlike the boxes that now appear in
various games alignment of 2008!
The mechanism to grab the boxes - a plate of wedging between the posts at the top of each box - not be allowed in LEGO issued a modern set. This technique, which appeared in a number of previous LEGO games, it was found to weaken or deform the bricks in the time and earned a place techniques in the list of "illegal" building. For a set that seems pretty simple, the Charging Station includes a fair degree of play value. Has a mobile crane winch operation. The docking station has two loading bays and lots of boxes. The crane straddling two railroads, a this series unique feature of the crane, which makes it possible to transfer cargo from one train to another or to the store. Or, with a set of tracks removed and replaced by a driveway, the crane can be used to transfer goods from truck to rail and vice versa.
It is easy to build a replica of the Charging Station, but it would be difficult to build an exact replica given what parts are available in the modern era. Despite the use of brick mostly based on the design, a number of items no longer in production, such as the antenna on the roof and large 2 x 6 x 3 window appears on the control tower of the station. Several other elements are much rarer now than in the 1970's, in particular, white doors hinged on the charging station and the wheels used on the crane. The set includes a decal sheet with the labels of the boxes and sign the top of the station that said "Freight Station." The
sheet decal includes this text in eight different languages! The 165 Charge Station marked the end of one era and the beginning of another. It was the first building LEGO trains to display system design style, and was an indication of things to come in the era of gray 12V trains criticized. It was also the first of several fueling stations for LEGO trains. Historically, each generation of trains has filed a charging station of some sort. Currently,
no line structures RC trains, and LEGO City line has a lot of vehicles, but is visible short cargo buildings. Perhaps this omission will be corrected when the powertrain Features are issued, only time will tell!
As always BrickTrainShop like to remind you to keep your eye out for Lego fraudulent and misleading advertising. Many seem to have appeared on Internet LEGO mostly made in China, a line of toys called "light" these Lego blocks and it seems that many members eBay are buying these knock offs and mixing them with regular Lego and sell by the pound. This amounts to fraud, deception, misleading advertising, etc. It is a mistake and Total Rip-Off! Please take care when making these purchases, especially if it sounds too good to be true.
