Lionel Polar Express Train - How to make O gauge and G?

Lionel Trains rushed to catch the buzz created by the launch of animated movie Robert Zemeckis in 2004 with the launch of its own electric meter O Polar Express Train Set. Soon after, they released a cheaper version G gauge polar express train. The two versions of the same product have caused some confusion, especially among parents who are not particularly train-understanding. So What is the difference?

The O-gauge set is a set of electric trains with the locomotive made from cast metal parts, that run on Lionel Standard Track, also of metal. The gauge group G, however, is made of plastic - locomotives, cars and track. The locomotive is batteries and these two factors, more than anything in mind the price difference.

Both sets represent significant points of entry to a very satisfying lifelong hobby. Both teams will give their children a Christmas to remember and a focal for you to interact with their children play. For my two cents, train sets worth every dollar spent and will continue bringing joy and fun at beyond the holiday season.

G gauge set, selling for about $ 100.00, is more suitable for younger children, 3 to 6 years old. OK, I'm convinced. . . but tell me about the O gauge train set.

O gauge Lionel Polar Express costs a little more (between $ 266.00 to $ 329.00, depending on the place of purchase) but you get more. This is a real Electric Train set will run with any of the other O-gauge Lionel range.

Suitable for what ages? Well, you know your own children, but seven or so it seems right to me.

The engine - a pretty decent representation of the Lima 2-8-4 Berkshire Stone - puffs of smoke as it runs, snorts like a real steam loco and has a very realistic steam whistle sound. The three passenger cars are lit interior (a nice touch for when darkness falls on December 25, and the room lights out) and passengers are cut into the windows of cars. Mounts easily track in a 60 "x 40" oval. The control package (which also has the bell and whistle buttons) is big and strong and thick successfully accelerator itself and mounted on the right side of the pack.

So there y 'go. Different horses for different courses, a large maker of Model Trains. G or O? Have fun deciding. Why not drop in your local store and try to train yourself. Great oaks from little acorns grow.
