Athearn Model Trains
"Like the train of life.?
Does anyone know where to get some of the cheapest in life like trains? I think the company Athearn was bought by or Walther or some other model railroad company, but they were big in the joint production of less expensive for people splashing or initiated in the hobby. I think only a prototype of the series are available on the market that are wayyyy more luxurious and expensive than others, but I would add some of their stuff cheaper entry-level to my collection.
You're right, life as it was bought by Walther, who has followed the lines of excellent Proto 1000 and 2000, but left the toy store-level team, which is not a bad thing. You can select these through eBay, but they are so crudely built and reliable not recommend it to anyone. Had weak style slot car engines were noisy and easily burned. You better luck with baseline http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/ Bachmann, who have re-energized with reliable engines. Athearn RTR http://www.athearn.com/Products/HO/Default.aspx there, being one of the best values in the hobby. Then there is IHC, which offers some very reliable database engine http://www.ihc-hobby.com/cgi-bin/bsc.cgi?sn=766M513937819808068I65I0UC57T1 vapor. There are also classic Mantua, now owned by power model, which are improved versions of some of the HO models oldest and most reliable in the industry.
